    Excellent addition for trout fishing

Posted by kmatsueda on 12th May 2018

I've only taken this rod tip out once, but it performed just as I had hoped. It made casting lighter tackle much easier. It does flex more than I expected. I was using a 6-coil battle rod tip before so that is probably on the stiffer end of the spectrum, so it makes sense this top water tip would feel much more springy. I hope to catch many fish with it.

    Best for Kayak Fishing

Posted by Unknown on 27th Jun 2016

Emmrod is still a little extra heavier than traditional fishing rods for top water fishing (specially when you spin cast light lure). But when I tried this from my Kayak it was a different story!! Emmrod is totally an awesome awesome experience!! In Kayak you want the fish to be as close to your hand as possible and Emmrod exactly does that. During ocean kayaking, in the medium waves, you want to drop the line to bottom, and want to feel every nibbles (even when crabs try to grab your hook/bait). And Emmrod is virtually unbreakable! Even this top water rod can easily handle 2-5 lb fish (i comfortably caught & landed 2.5lb Flounder from 200m away from beach; 40-50ft depth). To me, this "Top Water Cast Rod" is a must to have, (and most used one) among my Emmrod gears!! Thanks Emmrod for making the ocean Kayak fishing awesome!!!

Same quality, but beware, VERY light action

Posted by Gary Kimball on 29th Mar 2014

This rod is a good one, just like the others Emmrod sells, but I want future customers to realize that this is a very light action rod. I bought this one, the 6- and 8-coil rods for my setup. Messing around (just at home this morning) with the top water rod, I can't imagine I'd use this on the water. Maybe, but I doubt it. If I was goign to re-purchase my gear, I would buy only the 6- and 8- coil rod, perhaps just the 8-coil rod as it seems to be a good local fishing hole kind of pole (0-5 pound fish).
